A news video company that works the way newsrooms do

How dupyra came about

dupyra was founded in 2014 by Fiona MacLeod, who had spent years as a news producer. She saw how much depended on getting accurate footage quickly, and started a company to supply it.

Fiona's years in the newsroom taught her what producers actually need from an outside crew: clear communication, footage that matches the brief and files that arrive in a usable state. Too often those basics were the first things to slip when a story broke.

She built dupyra around those basics. Each job starts with a clear brief, and each crew knows what it is there to film before it leaves. The same routine applies to a single interview and to a day on a fast-moving story.

The company is based at 14 Craigs Lane in Stirling. That location puts crews within reach of Scotland's central belt and makes the north of England a manageable journey for stories that need someone on the spot.

The team has grown around specific roles. Callum Reid films on location and trains new operators, Priya Sharma edits and checks footage against broadcast specifications, and Duncan Fraser handles enquiries, quotations and scheduling.

Twelve years on, the aim is unchanged: supply television teams with footage that is accurate, on time and ready to use. We would rather be clear about what we can deliver than promise more than a crew can do.

How we work with a newsroom

Clear briefs before every job

We start by agreeing what the story needs, where the crew will be and when material is due. Duncan puts this in writing so everyone is working from the same page. If the brief changes, we update it and tell you.

  • Story and location confirmed
  • Deadline and format agreed
  • Named contact on the day
  • Written quotation or confirmation

Footage checked before it leaves

Priya or another editor reviews material against broadcast specifications before delivery. We look at picture, sound levels, format and file naming. If something is wrong, we correct it or tell you plainly.

  • Picture and sound reviewed
  • Format matched to your request
  • Files named to your convention
  • Issues reported, not hidden

Support that fits your routine

Many delays come from hand-over, not from filming. We can help set up ingest, naming and delivery routines, and train staff in framing, lighting and sound. The goal is footage that moves through your newsroom without fuss.

  • Ingest and hand-over routines
  • File naming guidance
  • Short staff training sessions
  • Practical, hands-on advice

What guides our work

  1. Accuracy

Footage has to show what happened and be labelled correctly. We check material against the brief and specifications before delivery, and we say so if something falls short.

  2. Speed

News moves quickly, so our crews and editors work to your deadline. We plan ahead so that speed comes from preparation, not from cutting corners on the day.

  3. Clarity

Clear briefs, plain quotations and straightforward communication keep jobs on track. You always know who is going where, what is included and when to expect the files.
