FAQ

Answers to the questions newsroom editors and producers ask most often before commissioning a shoot, an edit or a training session.

Frequently asked questions

Below are the practical points editors usually raise before a first booking. If your question is not covered, the contact page is the quickest way to put it to us.

  1. Where do your crews travel to?

We are based in Stirling and cover Scotland and the north of England. Most central Scotland locations are straightforward to reach, while longer journeys are discussed when you enquire. Travel time and any overnight need are set out in the written quotation, so there are no surprises on the invoice afterwards.

  2. How do I ask for a crew for a breaking story?

Use the contact form and give the location, the story, your deadline and the delivery format. Duncan reads enquiries and replies with questions where details are missing. Once we agree the plan, we confirm it in writing and the crew is scheduled accordingly.

  3. What does a crew consist of?

A standard breaking news crew is a camera operator and a sound recordist, with the kit needed for the job. Larger shoots, studio interviews or live links may need more people. We state the crew size in the quotation so you know who is attending.

  4. Which delivery formats can you supply?

We deliver to the specification your newsroom gives us, including codec, frame rate, loudness and file naming. Priya checks each finished package against that specification before it is sent. If you have a delivery sheet, include it with your enquiry.

  5. Can you edit footage that someone else has shot?

Yes. Rapid Edit and Delivery works on raw footage from any source, provided we receive it in a format we can open. Send a short note on running time, tone and any graphics or captions needed, and we will agree a turnaround before starting.

  6. Do you offer live links from outside the studio?

Our Live Link and Remote Reporting service uses portable live-feed kit and a trained crew. Because signal conditions vary by site, we usually discuss the location in advance and agree a test before the broadcast. We describe what can and cannot be guaranteed in writing.

  7. How is payment handled?

Nothing is paid on this website. After your enquiry we send a written quotation or confirmation, and once the work is done we issue an invoice to be paid by bank transfer. The prices page sets out what each service includes.

  8. What happens if I need to cancel or change a booking?

Tell us as soon as you know, using the contact details on the contact page. Cancellations and refunds follow our payment and refund policy, which explains what applies at each stage. Changes to a confirmed plan are agreed in writing.
